PRODUCT DESCRIPTION |
A variation off of the CDK-OWW Ferry Landing, this version is designed specifically for use with the PEG CDK Seaport Village collection. This is a fully functional, new ferry terminal. It does not replace the original game ferry terminal and can freely be used with them; CDK Ferry Landing on one side... traditional Ferry Terminal on the other. The PEG Ferry Landings have the same plop & maintenance costs as the original as well as the same capacity. But that's where the similarities end. The Ferry Landing is wider but shallower in size (4x3 tiles vs. 3x5 tiles) and is transit enabled to allow avenues to connect directly to it... instead of the roads used on the original. This should ease some traffic issues associated with the default ferries that can lower desirability and mayor ratings. Optionally, you can place a road perpendicular to the lot and connect to this with high-volume one-way streets, roads or even streets. This variation uses the Seaport Random Shops props which allow the two shops on the lot to be randomly different on each lot. The shops will also blend seamlessly with any adjacent Seaport Village lot, forming a continuous shopping strip/structure. In contrast to the original terminal, the Ferry Landing is a CDK lot which does not protrude several tiles out into the water. As the water depth is generally shallower nearer the shore, care must be taken to ensure that the water depth is deep enough for the ferry to operate. If it is not, the ferry will not function. Special thanks to BarbyW, Andreas, Blackbeard, ParadiseFarm,
& Swamper77 ** Use of the CDK Leveler Tool is recommended for use with all CDK lots. The PEG CDK-SV Ferry Landing requires installation of the PEG CDK-SV (Seaport Village) style and has these specific dependencies which most users of the CDK already have installed:

INSTALLATION |
If installing from the ZIP archive, unzip the file to your C:\My Documents\SimCity 4\Plugins folder making sure the 'Include Folder Names' option is selected. The product will be installed in the appropriate folder under the PEGPROD sub-folder which will be created if it does not already exist on your system. If any earlier version(s) of this file exist, they should be deleted. If installing from the installation .Exe file, simply run the program. You can over-ride the program's default installation paths if you wish, but these files must be installed somewhere within your Plugins folder to function properly. It is advisable to accept the default installation paths. |
DEVELOPER NOTES |
This lot is designed to operate as a CDK lot plopped on suitable terrain for CDK lots. Use of the CDK Leveler Tool will ensure proper appearance and function. In most cases, directly replacing a default ferry terminal with this CDK version will not allow the new version to function because of water depth. Some terrain editing to lower the ocean/river floor is generally required. ** If the lot does not function for any reason, the most likely cause is that the water in front of the lot is too shallow. Use the terrain editing tools to lower the ocean/river floor in front of the lot. Due to an oddity of transit enabled lots using avenues, you may notice that vehicle automata is making u-turns in the first set of tiles and not following the roadways in the lot. If this happens, select the avenue tool and drag an avenue from the tiles in front of the lot into the 2nd row of tiles. This seems to correct whatever transit-enabled weirdness is caused by the avenues.
